KX0R at Browns Landing\n\t\t\t\t<\/dd><\/dl><br style=\"clear: both\" \/>\n\t\t<\/div>\n<br \/>\n\u2022 The trail soon splits \u2013 take the right fork north along the ridge, around the eastern side of the meadow.<br \/>\n\u2022 It\u2019s possible to climb up to the south ridge of Leg and then head NNW up the summit ridge to the top \u2013 this is off-trail, and is best done with GPS.<br \/>\n\u2022 Avoid steep rocks and talus on both sides of the Leg BM ridge.<br \/>\n\u2022 Otherwise, for a slightly easier but longer route, continue on the trail as it leads NNW among some trees above the meadow.<br \/>\n\u2022 Leg BM ridge is immediately to the east here<br \/>\n\u2022 At the next fork, head NNE up a trail in a small draw; climb \u00bc mile to a small saddle near 8920 feet.<br \/>\n\u2022 At the saddle, leave the trail, and follow a faint, unmarked path SE up and along the summit ridge.<br \/>\n\u2022 The route&#8217;s rocky and brushy; The USCGS BM from 1948 says \u201cLEG\u201d. The USGS BM from 1947 says \u201cPole\u201d. Pole Mountain is actually about 1\/3 mile to the SE from Leg. It\u2019s well-built, maintained, and used in all seasons. The trailhead for the west end is just north of the statue of President Lincoln at the top of I-80. Access to Leg BM from the west end is probably as easy as the route detailed here, although it\u2019s slightly longer. \u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.adventuresoflupe.com\/?tag=leg-benchmark\">Here&#8217;s a detailed account<\/a> of that route.<\/p>\n<p>Plenty of good spots are available for setting up radio gear along the summit ridge. The activation zone is very long north to south. It looks out over most of southeast Wyoming, and the views seem endless. Many of the trees are dead, so the ridge is wide open. This is the top of the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/search?q=sherman+mountains+wyoming&amp;espv=2&amp;biw=1360&amp;bih=655&amp;site=webhp&amp;tbm=isch&amp;tbo=u&amp;source=univ&amp;sa=X&amp;ved=0ahUKEwiZ6ZOakq3SAhUK5GMKHaj3CHYQsAQINA\">Sherman Mountains,<\/a> which are part of the much larger <a href=\"http:\/\/www.summitpost.org\/laramie-mountains\/562647\">Laramie Range<\/a>.
