A marked trail leads part way to the top, and the rest of the route is up across the easy tundra. It\u2019s about 3.4 miles each way, and the ascent is about 2300 vertical feet. Exit at <a title=\"Georgetown web site link\" href=\"http:\/\/www.georgetown-colorado.org\/\" target=\"_blank\">Georgetown<\/a> and follow the signs through town to Guanella Pass. Drive up the steep paved road all the way to the Pass at 11,600 feet. Get there early, as the area is extremely popular on weekends, and parking can be a problem. The trailhead for <a title=\"Square Top 13-ers link\" href=\"http:\/\/www.13ers.com\/routemain.php?route=201010010316072\" target=\"_blank\">Square Top<\/a> is on the west side of the Pass, at the far end of the parking lot. This popular trail is not shown on Google maps. A sign marks the choice between continuing down to South Park Trail 600 or up to Square Top Mountain. Stay left of the obvious cliffs on the east side of the ridge. The actual summit is near the west end, with a large activation zone. The top is rocky with many flat spots. It is possible to get out of the wind in the lee of the peak. The day I was there it was cold and windy, in the low 40\u2019s, despite the mid-summer date. Bierstadt<\/a> or <a title=\"Argentine SOTA page\" href=\"http:\/\/www.sotawatch.org\/summits.php?summit=W0C\/SR-019\" target=\"_blank\">Argentine Peak<\/a>, for a challenging dual activation, weather
